3. Blades

The key to the familiar fluffy texture of shaved ice is the sharp blades that gently shave ice off the block (or small cubes, for some machines).

That blade needs to be replaced annually, so make sure that you’ve purchased the corresponding blade for your machine and have it on hand in your shaved ice supplies. You’ll need to switch it out as soon as you notice a change in texture.

4. Block Ice Molds

If you’ve purchased a block ice machine, then you need to use block ice molds to freeze ice in the proper size for serving. These block ice molds come in 4 qt. containers, which makes approximately 12 to 16 8-oz. cups of shaved ice (depending on how full you’re making them!).
